Fed: Costello announces grants for drug and alcohol treatement

PETER COSTELLO has announced grants totalling 850 thousand dollars .. to upgrade 17
drug and alcohol treatment facilities across the country.

The treasurer says the money will be spent on office upgrades and minor building repair work.

Mr COSTELLO says the grants are a sign of the Commonwealth government's support for
non-government treatment .. as part of the war on drugs.





The announcement was made at Melbourne's Odyssey House .. a community-based facility
providing rehab counselling and a check-in detox service.
