SA: Truro killer to stay in jail until 2014

South Australia's Truro killer, JAMES WILLIAM MILLER, has lost what will probably be
his final bid to cut short his prison sentence.

MILLER was jailed for life in 1980 for his part in the murder of six young women.

And the the Full Court of the Supreme Court has now refused him leave to appeal against
his 35-year non-parole-period.

The decision means MILLER will remain behind bars until 2014, with his sentence backdated
to the day he was first taken into custody in 1979.

MILLER was convicted by a jury after helping his friend, CHRISTOPHER ROBIN WORRELL,
abduct, rape and murder the women before dumping their bodies at Truro, north of Adelaide.

He maintained he played a subordinate role, and that WORRELL was responsible for the
rapes and murders.

However, WORRELL died in a car crash shortly after the murder of his last victim.
